Scrubs is canceled
Zach Braff has posted this yesterday on his Facebook page, and the fans haven’t stopped commenting/lamenting on the show’s cancellation. It’s a shame the rebooted show didn’t stick around, but let’s not kid ourselves, it’s just not the same without the original gang in there. The show, as clever and as funny it was, didn’t get enough push from its former network, NBC, and after it moved to ABC, some cast members moved on.
So the new network, eyeing the potential profits and a fresher, younger demographic, have revamped the show, bringing in a few new faces, retaining as many of ‘old’ regulars as possible, and hoping the recycled formula will stick. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work. The new cast (slightly better-looking, and thus, worse-acting) never quite gelled, the writing just slumped, and Turk with Dr. Cox just couldn’t keep it together any longer. I will miss the series, and even though I tried to follow the ‘new’ show as well, it just never lived up to its former glory, and could never get its own voice. I guess it’s back to the DVD box-sets. Say what you want, this was one hell of a funny show a couple of years back. Let’s hope there’s syndication, and I’ll bump into the gang again in the future.
