Full Monty

Full Monty You can leave your hat on. Sporting a great soundtrack, and nothing else on, this touching comedy about a group of unemployed steelworkers who put on a male striptease show will win your heart. Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, Tom Wilkinson (yes, that one),

... William Snape and Paul Barber steal every scene as they practice their way to the final live show in their little town.

RIP - George Carlin - catch TV specials

TV Announcements We knew it was coming, and his last few appearances on TV have been pretty telling. The guy's been on stage, entertaining us, our parents, our grandparents for decades. That heart can only take so much, you know. How appropriate - heart failure. My guess is George just got tired. And can you blame him - fighting idiocy, and observing the morons who surround him every day. There are no others like you, George. I'm sorry you got t...

TV Schedules It's not final yet - the networks might move things around last minute - but this Fall's schedule is shaping up quite nicely. Some pleasant surprises, some welcome returns, and some satisfying absences. Enjoy.

RIP - Sydney Pollack

Movie Reviews Sydney Pollack has died or cancer. What a terrible loss - the director of Tootsie, The Way We Were, The Firm, Out of Africa, and so many other films - the kind of movies you never watch just once - he's no longer with us. He was also a gifted actor, appearing in many memorable scenes from the last couple of decades - Changing Lanes, Michael Clayton, ...

Simpsons voice talent on strike again

Movie Reviews The people who get astronomical moola to talk in funny voices are at it again. An ongoing contract dispute between the voice talent behind The Simpsons and 20th Century Fox TV has caused production delays on the show's upcoming 20th season and will most likely force the studio to produce fewer episodes this season.

More shows are coming back - don't abandon your teevee yet

Movie Reviews Things are still getting back to normal after the writers' strike. In any normal TV season, February would be the month of sweeps, and then we'd all take a couple of weeks off for reruns. By mid-March we'll be watching new episodes again, waiting for the May sweeps. Unfortunately, because of the strike, this schedule is useless. We had over a month of reruns, and many shows didn't come back briefly for February at all. Well, now it seems they're finally coming back. Check out this schedule, and line up y...

Oscar winners - have you seen these films?

TV Announcements The show was fun, it was light, it was predictable, and it was quirky. Jon Stewart held his ground, looking more comfortable as a host, but the stars weren't entertaining enough. I guess, just like Stephen Colbert said on the first day after the writers' strike -"reading is a muscle, you can get out of shape pretty quickly". For an affair that was put together in about 2 weeks, it was a phenomenal show. For a yearly self-congratulathon packed with celebs, personas and rumours, this was a missed opportuni...
