Summer might be coming to a close, but the TV season is not. Some of your favourite shows are coming back this month, and a few new ones. Check our Monk, Psych, Mad Men (our faves year after year), also check out Hard Knocks from HBO, Ghost Hunters, among other returning shows. Here's the full sked. read more...

Can you smell it in the air? The mid-season premieres are almost here. Some of the new shows, some - returning favourites. Most will be eagerly awaited, as a replacement for the bloated fall barrage of wasted opportunities. Some - will be avoided like the plague - year after year. All - are worth your time - whether you're following these shows religiously, or trying to ignore them to the best of your abilities. TV Announcements August premiere dates

If you're not too busy following the Beijing Olympics this month (and you better watch the coverage - our Chinese overlords demand you observe them), here's a list of what's premiering this month. Honestly, not the best summer month for starting a show (compared to the 'still in school' June, or 'let's go out instead' July), but nevertheless, plenty of new things you can watch on the tube. Here's the list. read more...

TV Announcements July premiere dates

Based on this list, the summer is just beginning. The Euro Cup was a good, entertaining ending to June, and Fall network premieres are still too far away. Here's what's coming back to TeeVees this month - bet you'll notice a few favourites on the list. Psych, Burn Notice, Stargate, Generation Kill, The Closer, Mad Men, Gong Show, Monk. Take your pick - July is going to be a lot of fun. read more...

TV Announcements RIP - George Carlin - catch TV specials

We knew it was coming, and his last few appearances on TV have been pretty telling. The guy's been on stage, entertaining us, our parents, our grandparents for decades. That heart can only take so much, you know. How appropriate - heart failure. My guess is George just got tired. And can you blame him - fighting idiocy, and observing the morons who surround him every day. There are no others like you, George. I'm sorry you got tired of all of us. We should have tried harder to be decent beings. read more...

TV Announcements June premiere dates

The summer is finally here, Lost season finale was fantastic, keep talking about it and speculating on the next season. Here's a list of shows starting this month. The cable networks have been busy since the strike, and have a few things to share with you. Unfortunately, Rescue Me is not coming back this summer - got delayed by a few months - but a whole bunch of TV goodness is coming your way. read more...

TV Announcements Root of all Evil is renewed

The verdict is in! Lewis Black's time as judge has been extended. The ultimate decider on all things evil is just settling into his role as ruler as COMEDY CENTRAL orders a second season of the weekly series, "Lewis Black's Root of All Evil," it was announced today by Lauren Corrao, president original programming and development. The second season will premiere on Wednesday, July 30 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. read more...

TV Announcements Denny Crane lives for another year

The fifth season of "Boston Legal" will be its last. The legal drama, which has won five Emmys (including three for star James Spader) in its time on ABC, will bow out with a 13-episode run in the fall, ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson told reporters Tuesday (May 13). read more...

TV Announcements Oscar winners - have you seen these films?

The show was fun, it was light, it was predictable, and it was quirky. Jon Stewart held his ground, looking more comfortable as a host, but the stars weren't entertaining enough. I guess, just like Stephen Colbert said on the first day after the writers' strike -"reading is a muscle, you can get out of shape pretty quickly". For an affair that was put together in about 2 weeks, it was a phenomenal show. For a yearly self-congratulathon packed with celebs, personas and rumours, this was a missed opportunity. Self-censorship, and coy quips are not very amusing. Bring back the pazzazz. Having said that, I think the right films won, and for the right reasons. Here's the list of winners. read more...

TV Announcements Shows are back ... some are not so lucky

Well, the strike is over (we'll post a link to the accomplishments shortly). Looks like the guild is going to vote in it rather quickly, and they're going to accept the (now) preliminary terms. The writers are heading back to their desks pretty much immediately after the vote, and we may just salvage the rest of this miserable season. Since most of the networks are all but empty with new original material, here's the list of what's left of your favourite shows this year. I'd hold breath for more reality programming and fewer original shows in the near future. After all, during the strike weeks, the ratings that dropped were quickly picked up by reruns and reality shows. Plus, if anyone's noticed, the box office was up. So it looks like the studios haven't missed a beat. As for the writers and their pet projects - it remains to be seen what exactly will be developed for next year, in what amounts, and on what budget. Here's a list of stuff yet to air: read more...
