Based on this list, the summer is just beginning. The Euro Cup was a good, entertaining ending to June, and Fall network premieres are still too far away. Here's what's coming back to TeeVees this month - bet you'll notice a few favourites on the list. Psych, Burn Notice, Stargate, Generation Kill, The Closer, Mad Men, Gong Show, Monk. TV Announcements RIP - George Carlin - catch TV specials

We knew it was coming, and his last few appearances on TV have been pretty telling. The guy's been on stage, entertaining us, our parents, our grandparents for decades. That heart can only take so much, you know. How appropriate - heart failure. My guess is George just got tired. And can you blame him - fighting idiocy, and observing the morons who surround him every day. There are no others like you, George. I'm sorry you got tired of all of us. We should have tried harder to be decent beings. read more...

Movie Reviews RIP - Sydney Pollack

Sydney Pollack has died or cancer. What a terrible loss - the director of Tootsie, The Way We Were, The Firm, Out of Africa, and so many other films - the kind of movies you never watch just once - he's no longer with us. He was also a gifted actor, appearing in many memorable scenes from the last couple of decades - Changing Lanes, Michael Clayton, Eyes Wide Shut, The Player, Husbands and Wives. read more...

Movie Reviews Simpsons voice talent on strike again

The people who get astronomical moola to talk in funny voices are at it again. Movie Reviews More shows are coming back - don't abandon your teevee yet

Things are still getting back to normal after the writers' strike. In any normal TV season, February would be the month of sweeps, and then we'd all take a couple of weeks off for reruns. By mid-March we'll be watching new episodes again, waiting for the May sweeps. Unfortunately, because of the strike, this schedule is useless. We had over a month of reruns, and many shows didn't come back briefly for February at all. Well, now it seems they're finally coming back. Check out this schedule, and line up your TIVO, or VCR, or whatever you use to keep track of your favourite shows. They're here to stay ... for a few weeks anyway. read more...
